The short version
This site invents names. It does not ask who you are, it has no accounts, and it keeps no database of what it produced for you. The longer sections below just spell that out.
Cookies kept in your browser
One cookie matters here: cookie_consent. It records whether you allowed or declined non-essential cookies, so that the question is asked once rather than on every page. Clearing it simply brings the question back.
What the server writes down
Every web server keeps access logs, and ours is no exception: the requested address, the time, the browser's user agent and the IP address of the request. They are there for security and for finding faults, and they are rotated automatically as new ones are written.
The names themselves
Generated names, and anything shown alongside them on the baby-names page, are produced on the spot and are not saved. They are not drawn from records of real people — they are assembled from public statistical lists of how common particular names are.
Companies that also receive data
Two Google services run on this site:
- Google Analytics — tells us which pages people use, so we know what to improve.
- Google AdSense — supplies the advertising that pays for the hosting.
Both see your IP address and details of the visit, and both handle that under Google's own rules, not ours. You can read them at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and adjust what advertising you are shown at google.com/settings/ads.
Things we never do
We do not sell data, we do not build profiles of visitors, and we do not ask for documents or photographs. There is no sign-up, so there is no password to lose.
Children
The site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly gather information from them.

We revise it whenever the site changes in a way that affects what is described here. The date at the top always shows the most recent revision.
